Tolleson Grocery and Past Time Pool Hall and Bansner Feed Publication: Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette Publication Date: Jan/Feb 2010 ![]() Bollinger Edgerly Scale Trains sells two new HO scale kits that depict buildings that still exist next to each other in Wickenburg, Arizona. These kits are part of BEST¹s series of kits replicating Wickenburg as it appeared in 1915. Both kits include high quality laser cut, tab-and-slot, wood walls, and laser cut doors, windows and trim, along with stripwood, corrugated roofing and metal details including figures. A Jordan Highway Miniatures vehicle is included with each kit. Tolleson Grocery and Past Time Pool Hall sells for $89.95 and is shown on the left in the photo. The kit includes last cut, wood, tab-and-slot walls, onto which outer walls are laminated. A jig is provided to help get the canopy at the correct height. I found this jig to be fussy, but it did help get the canopy square. I substituted Paper Creek corrugated roofing for the Campbell corrugated material provided in the kit in order to save time. The sign for the front of this kit is a large decal. I sanded my decal to weather it, and had no difficulty applying this decal to my model. Bansner Feed sells for $109.95, and is shown on the right in the photo. It has laser cut plastic ³stucco² walls that are laminated over the laser cut wood, tab and slot walls. The corners have to be ³puttied.² I found this required some skill, but the rest of the kit assembled perfectly. The gable roof is to be covered with corrugated material, but to save time, I used Paper Creek printed corrugated roofing. The instructions did not show where to put the stove pipe, but I called BEST, and was told it could be anywhere in the rear of the building. I found both of these kits assembled into realistic models and the inclusion of Jordan Highway Miniature vehicle kits an added bonus. Charlie Getz. |
